What To Expect From Your Pilates Class…

This is a 1-2-1 version of the Mums that Move group class. If you are a busy mum and can’t make my group classes this might be your preferred option. Many clients feel they get quicker results working in this more focused way and like to work to their own timescales and have sessions completely tailored to their own needs and focused on their goals. The classes are 60 minutes long.

This class picks up the themes introduced in the Core Care & Pelvic Floor Repair course and we embed them through practice, practice and more practice. We continue the focus on breath work and connecting with your pelvic floor and your deep abdominals and learning how to strengthen and relax them. We take the breath work a step further and apply it to functional exercise to strengthen and tone the body as being a mum is hard work. We need to be strong and proficient in lifting pushing pulling squatting and lunging as mums are required to do all these movements.

The classes incorporate seated, standing and floor work. They utilise a lot of small equipment such as massage balls, fascial release balls, therabands, wobble cushions, overballs and foam rollers so that the classes are varied, interesting and fun. 

Best of all, it is a lovely opportunity to have some time and space for you away from your busy routine. 

You will get access to a closed facebook group where you can talk to other mums and ask questions. 

NOTE:  Due to the Corona virus all 1-2-1 sessions are currently being taught virtually using a video conferencing tool called zoom.  As well as the class I will provide home exercise videos and you will be given access to our All Members Area with prerecorded Pilates classes to do at home.

e there any pre-requisites to starting this 1-2-1 Pilates class? No

Can I bring my baby to the Pilates class? No this class is not one you can bring your baby to.

Can anyone do your Pilates class? There are some medical conditions that will require medical consent for you to exercise. I will send you a health screening form to complete and this must be completed before you come for your first session.

What do I wear to the Pilates class? Please wear comfortable clothing including socks.

What do I need to bring to the Pilates class? Please bring some water.

If my children aren’t babies anymore is this Pilates class still relevant for me? The course is relevant regardless of how old your children are. If you have any concerns with your pelvic floor function, have diastasis recti or a weak core this is for you!

When are you available to teach these Pilates classes? Slots are available on Wednesday afternoons, Thursday afternoons, Friday mornings and some Saturdays as these are the days I run my private classes.

 Our Expertise

Angela – I am a specialist Pilates teacher with deep knowledge and experience of working with the pregnant and postnatal population. I did my initial training with Rachel Rafiefar and completed her Thoughtful Body Pregnancy and Postnatal Postgraduate Assessment in June 2015.  Realising that this was an area I was truly passionate about and wanted to specialise and immerse myself in, I went on complete Heather King Smith’s Restoring the Core (Pelvic Floor Dysfunctions and Diastasis Rectus) course with Mbodies in March 2017. In July 2017, I completed an intensive period of training on Carolyne Anthony’s Center for Women’s Fitness courses. I attended her Support your Floor, Diastasis Recti Recovery, Pilates for Menopause and Pre and Postnatal training.  Still thirsty for more knowledge in November 2017 I completed my Advanced CPD in Modern Post Natal Assessment, Core Restore & Functional Exercise Programming with Burrell Education, leading Women’s Wellness, Fitness & Therapy Educator.   I also apply a lot of what I learned in Jessica Coveley’s Practical Fascial Release Methods for Movement Professionals course in my practice which I attended in April 2017.  Most importantly I have had three children of my own and after experiencing little to no support after the birth of my first child when I was suffering urinary incontinence and unbeknown to me also a prolapse and feeling hugely let down by the system I started on my own journey of rehabilitating my own body and self-discovery.  It has filled me with passion to support and empower all women to do the same.  I have spent the last few years working with mums to rehabilitate and reconnect with their bodies in the postnatal period. This course is the culmination of everything I have learned and experienced to give clients results, as ultimately that is what is important!
